This week was all about embracing the unexpected adventure. It started with a fun trip out to West Virginia to photograph an engagement session before I packed up and left for my wedding in New Hampshire on Friday. On Sunday, Maddie and I arrived back at the airport only to find out that our plane had mechanical issues and they were flying out a mechanic from Chicago to take a look a the problem.
Due to the storm on Saturday, all of the cancelled trips led to overbooked flights and the inability to catch another plane back home on Sunday. In other words, if our plane couldn’t be fixed… we were stuck in New Hampshire for at least another day (and I would have to miss my sister’s going away celebration!)
After about an hour of waiting for news and chatting with a sweet couple who was also on our flight… we decided to make the most our of our situation and rent a car to drive back to Maryland together. The good news? Our flight was officially cancelled shortly after we left the airport. We made the right decision.
What I thought would be a long and frustrating travel situation, quickly became one of the most fun road trips we’ve ever had. Waze took us a unique way home and we ended up stopping for lunch in a cute little town in Connecticut and exploring a bit before driving through New York and waving goodbye to my sweet Philadelphia! We chatted with our new friends about their own love story, how they met, how he proposed, and their favorite wedding guest experiences.
I made it home just in time to celebrate with my sister before she moves to Ohio to start medical school at the Cleveland Clinic! An unexpected adventure, but we had such an amazing time making new friends and realizing, yet again, how small of a world it is!
Last week, I drove out to West Virginia with my sweet assistant Tricia to photograph Kailey and Clyde’s Engagement Session in Harpers Ferry! Prepare to fall in love with this wild and wonderful state!
On Saturday, I had the incredible honor of photographing Jennifer and Joshua’s Wedding in New Hampshire. This entire wedding was breathtakingly beautiful! I can’t wait to share more with you all on Wednesday!
I hope your week is off to a great start! Happy Monday!

Such gorgeous previews! But that sounds like a few nervous hours and a fun roadtrip home! 🙂
Love these sneak peeks!!! Glad you got home in time to see Caroline off!! Yay!!
I love these! And I love that you guys had a road trip adventure with new friends. Sounds like the makings of a movie!
What a crazy story! I’m so glad it all worked out and you got to make some new friends in the process! These sneak peeks are GORGEOUS! I love New Hampshire and Vermont. I normally fly into Manchester when I go visit family in Vermont and I swear on that 1.5 hour drive I want to pull over 100x to take photos to show off the view but it never quite does it justice. I can’t wait to see more from this magical wedding!
What a weekend! Sounds like mine when I was coming back from Maryland! I missed two flights due to weather and traffic and so I ended up flying into a different city and having someone come pick me up and drive home so we didn’t miss an event the next day.
(Love the sneak peeks)
Wow! What a weekend! Harpers Ferry is so pretty, I’ve always wanted to shoot there. I can’t wait to see how you view it. And oh my gosh, that New hampshire view! So amazing!!! Glad you made it home and now I want to download Waze whatever that is! hahah!
