Creative at Heart Conference

Last month, I had the incredible honor and privilege of speaking at The Creative at Heart Conference for a second time! This event is truly one of the most life-giving and inspiring gatherings that I have ever been a part of!

Between the top-notch presentations by visionary speakers in the industry to small groups led by dedicated leaders in the field, Creative at Heart combines lecture style courses with a personal atmosphere to make each and every attendee feel welcome! There’s even a Late Night Surprise /slash/ Pajama Party that reminded me of my college days!

 

Seriously, this conference is absolutely phenomenal!

And that film by The Herrintons left me with tears! Ahhhh! I’m especially excited this morning to announce that I will be speaking at the third Creative at Heart Conference in my beloved Charleston, South Carolina this November! And the crazy part? I’m going to be speaking on a field so incredibly close to my heart and relatively untouched in the Photography + Creative Industry!

Although most of you know me as a Wedding Blogger and Photographer, I’m also a giant nerd! In 2012, I graduated with a Visual Studies Degree from UPenn that concentrated on Visual Neuroscience and the Psychology of Seeing. (I even produced a Thesis on the Psychological Effects of Digital Manipulation in the Media that I could describe in great detail… but alas, I don’t want you falling asleep on me… mid blog post! Hah!)

At the last two conferences, I dove into Social Media Strategy (which I’m excited to see my sweet friends Amy + Jordan rock in November!) and this time I’m speaking on The Brain Behind the Business. A combination of Neuroeconomics and the Psychology of Marketing that aims to explain why some businesses explode onto the scene, keep customers coming back, and thrive beyond reason.

And if you’ve seen me speak at either of the other conferences, you can bet that I might get a little emotional somewhere in there as well. This business is an extension of my heart and I can’t help it when those tears decide to make their debut! Ah! (Can you tell I’m EXCITED about this? I’m getting to speak on something that lights my heart on fire… and I am hoping that all of the attendees take a little bit of my nerdy passion with them too!)

Oh, and that’s me! Speaking on Social Media Strategy and rocking an Anchor Cardigan!

Because would it really be my presentation without Anchors somewhere? I think this sweater might be my good luck charm because this was truly one of my favorite speeches to date! And each and every attendee in that room got to see me cry just a little in the beginning and share my heart about my #CommunityoverCompetition movement at the end!

If there is one thing that I love most about Creative at Heart, its the fact that the speakers and the attendees really get to connect with one another. At so many other conferences, Speakers get up on stage and lecture… only to leave an hour later and head home. Creative at Heart is so very different. We have panel groups together. We stay up into the fringe-hours of the night, sharing stories and encouraging one another through the struggle. We talk and we listen. We grow together as a community. And isn’t that what we all deserve? A place to belong and people who believe in us?

And the last day, we surprised Kat with a letter from all of the Speakers + Panelists! Because, trust me – She is a rock star!

I truly cannot express in words how much I adore this conference, the women behind it, and their mission. Each and every one of the Speakers leads with love and the Panelists come with open hearts to serve the attendees well.
