After photographing every single weekend since summer started, I was a little excited to see my designated “weekend off” quickly approaching. And quite honestly, Huey may have been looking forward to it even more than I was.
Last Thursday, Huey suggested that we go into Washington DC, rent a swanky hotel room, and enjoy a true couple’s weekend in the city! I was hesitant at first (I’m more of a “boating-until-sunset // crab-feasts-on-the-porch” type of weekender), but Huey’s enthusiasm won me over in the end and we booked a room at the Park Hyatt Hotel. We had lunch at Ted’s Bulletin in Capital Hill, walked around the city, slept in the following morning, and met our good friend Manya at Founding Farmers for a late brunch on Sunday morning.
I didn’t realize how much I needed a weekend off to relax and renew my spirit! It was perfect in every way and I’m so glad that I listened to my amazing husband!
What do you like to do on your weekend’s off? I don’t have another until November, but I’m already getting excited to spend it doing something fun! Suggestions, ideas, and inspiration are always appreciated!

This looks like you guys had such a fun weekend together!!! Huey did such a great job planning it all!! For me, I made a “summer bucket list” for this year with all kinds of fun things on it and I try to make a point to do something from the list whenever we have time. I know that the summer will be gone before we know it and if we don’t ACTIVELY make time to do fun things we won’t!

I love this! It’s nice sometimes to do something you wouldn’t normally do. Every time I do I’m pleasantly surprised š
A couple of years ago we went out to western Maryland, stayed at a B&B and did a haunted railroad dinner show. Definitely not our usual thing but it was so much fun!

What a wonderful weekend! That sounds like absolute perfection. I’m so glad you were actually able to relax!! I’m terrible about having weekends “off” and then still having them be crazy busy!

Oh my gosh – THE FOOD looks amazing! I hear you on the weekend off! Looking forward to our first weekend off in a looong time in a few weeks! Now I’m inspired to plan an actual getaway for it… hmmm. š

This looks like a glorious weekend off!!! And Huey took a pretty fabulous picture of you Nat! Andrew & I have been taking the weekends to soak in each other and make our home a little bit more homey… and spending Sunday getting ready for the week and spending the evening at a concert in the park with friends, wine and snacks every week has been so fun! Missing you pretty girl- I think you should come out to CA on your weekend off in November š
