My friendship with Maria and Alessandro started at their sunrise engagement session in downtown Annapolis. At the crack of dawn, they met me with a smile and an honest laughter that I still remember almost a year later.
It’s hard for me to put into words how truly incredible these two are. Every year there are a few couples that I feel especially connected with, and Maria and Ale have truly become my friends over the wedding planning process.
I’m going to borrow the incredible theme of Massi’s best man speech, which at times almost brought me to tears… He explained that Maria and Ale are not soul mates. To be “soul mates” suggests that something blossomed overnight… and this word could never do their relationship justice. The hard work, commitment, and respect that blossomed in the years of love between them far surpasses any instantaneous romance.
There is no doubt that they are meant to be together, and they have worked extremely hard to build such an incredible friendship… an unbreakable bond. And it is this kind of love – the one which takes dedication and care that I believe makes a marriage strong.
Maria & Alessandro are two peas in a pod. They are two turtle-doves. They are the perfect fit.
One of the things I absolutely loved about their ceremony, officiated by the talented Rev. Laura Cannon, was the multiple readings done in English, Spanish, and Italian. Each reading was done so beautifully and in such a touching way. It was an incredible tribute to Maria and Alessandro’s family heritages.
